Growing Tree Children's Center

Will you teach my child to read?
Reading is a set of skills and we start
teaching them to even our youngest
students. We also teach math and science
concepts along with some social studies.
We gear the teaching to the age group so
it is engaging, stimulating and fun!
Will my child be ready for kindergarten?
Generally speaking, children who are
self-confident, expect to learn, have been
exposed to the rhythm of language
(singing, storytelling, handling books),have some self-help skills, can successfully separate from their parents, have a sense of responsibility and have some experience being a member of a group – all things we work on every day – will be ready for kindergarten. Over the years we have received very positive feedback from the parents when their children entered formal school. Several of our alumni have gone on to attend some of the country’s most prestigious universities
What Qualifications do your staff have?
The owners/directors both have bachelor’s
degrees in Child Development from San
Diego State University . Each of the teachers
has a minimum of 20 units of Child
Development and 10 years experience
working with preschool children.
There is always at least one person on site
who is currently certified in first aid and CPR.
What kind of discipline do you use?
We have an environment that is set up just
for children. We strive to have lots of choices and enough materials available to avoid problems. When they do arise, we redirect the children to more appropriate activities. If we have continuing behavioral problems we consult with the parents and come up with a plan together.
But my child isn’t good at sharing.
Children this age do not understand sharing.
We help them learn to take turns. Everyone
deserves the chance to explore the materials
individually or with a friend.
Do they have to be potty trained?
No. When you are ready to work on potty
training we will work on it with you. We have
lots of experience and lots of ideas to help
you through it!
What about Lunch?
We provide a morning and afternoon snack. They usually consist of milk, fruit or juice with crackers, bread or cereal. Sometimes the children assist in planning and preparing snack. Lunch comes from home. We feel that children eat better when they bring their own lunch. We have refrigerators and microwaves so lunch can be cold, hot or a combination. What isn’t eaten is sent back so you will know exactly what they consumed. This also allows us to easily accommodate allergies and special diets.
